Though appearing Hume, Crystal is not. She is a construct created directly by a God to serve them. She was discarded when she was no longer useful, but retains much of her abilities; namely, her immortality. Crystal does not age, and she cannot die. Though she can suffer injuries, and will recover from them at a normal pace, she is incapable of receiving a scar as all injuries heal completely, and in the event of any fatal injuries, Crystal will recover instantaneously.
On a cellular level, Crystal's ability to regenerate cells is perfect. Since flaws in the reproduction of cells, and damage to DNA over time, is the primary cause of ageing, Crystal does not suffer it. On Spira, this is down to her Holy Elemental chakra, which she has in vast supply. Unfortunately, because her chakra is permanently employed in the task of making perfect replacements for old cells, her supplies of chakra are constantly depleted down to normal levels.
Things become strange with Crystal in the event of her suffering a fatal injury. Though normal fatal injuries deplete her chakra as would be expected, with the instant healing, and thus recovery, taking its toll and leaving her weary, abnormal fatal injuries do not have this effect. Should a person remove a body part, or organ, from Crystal to result in her death, she will remain dead until attention is directed away from her, at which point she will recover as though the injury had never been received. The part of her body that had been removed will cease to exist outside of her body, also, leaving no evidence that it had ever been removed at all.
As a result of all of this, Crystal permanently appears to be seventeen years old. Though she menstruates, she is incapable of reproduction because her body resists the changes a foetus makes, interpreting it as damage which must be healed.
At the current time Crystal is in a long term relationship with another member of the Thirteenth Order. She resides in Rabanastre, and is the clan's only dedicated healer. Her primary source of income is bar work and waitressing in the Sandsea.
